Background
EXPO RURAL and EXPO CARNE is an international trade fair designed for the agricultural, industrial, technological and commercial sectors.
Launched in 2003, the event was the first agricultural fair held in downtown Panama City.
The concept, an initiative of the private sector, encompasses three objectives: to offer technology to producers, to promote the consumption of beef among the general public through more information on the subject, and to establish a single venue for all the elements of the production and marketing chains of the agricultural industry.
The fair was held for the second time in 2005 with a series of more ambitious goals: the promotion of business contracts between producers, food processing companies, buyers and distributers of food products, and suppliers of raw materials, machinery, equipment and technology. Another objective was to promote Panama as a strategic point for the distribution of products to Latin and North America, Asia and Europe.

Also, the Expo Rural and Expo Carne fair was organized as a complete showcase for the promotion, among residents of the Panama City metro area, of products harvested from Panama’s heartland, as well as the variety and quality of Panamanian produce.
In addition to this, the fair sought to demonstrate the scope, development and capacity of the country’s agricultural and agro-industrial sector, divulging its strategic importance as a source of food production, employment and revenue vis-à-vis current commercial trends.
In the 2006 version the event’s objectives were expanded which surprised its visitors with an original concept and the constant renovation of activities. Expo Rural and Expo Carne 2006 was envisioned, not only as a trade fair, but also an active support tool for the agricultural and agro-industrial sector 365 days a year, thanks to its interactive web page, www.exporural-expocarne.com The site is available to all members of the agricultural chain of production as a means of promotion, technological innovation and a provider of financial and training opportunities. It also acts as a forum for the sector and an innovative, virtual medium for the marketing of goods and services.
The 2006 fair included new exhibits and the launch of the first “Grand Farming Auction.”
